To mark the end of the eleventh week’s play of the ninth season of the Championship, the Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.
– Best goaltender was Henrik Karlsson (Barys), with three wins (including two shutouts) in three appearances. Karlsson only allowed a solitary goal in the past seven days, posting a save percentage of 98.86 and a goals against average of 0.33;
– Best defenseman, for the second successive week, was Zakhar Arzamastsev (Salavat Yulaev), who celebrated victory in all three of his matches. As with last week, Arzamastsev ended the week with 3 points (2+1) and a +5, without a single negative rating. but contributed 13 shots at goal (against 9 for the previous week) and 4 blocks;
– Best forward was Vadim Shipachyov (SKA), with a haul of 8 points (2+6) from three victorious matches and a +5 for the week. Shipachyov took points from all three games for the Petersburg men and scored a double against Lokomotiv;
– Best rookie was 20-year-old Torpedo defenseman, Dmitry Shulenin, who enjoyed 3 outings and helped his team win two of them. Shulenin’s personal figures included 2 points (0+2), 4 blocks, 4 hits, an average of 17 minutes 22 seconds on the ice, and he avoided a negative rating in all three games, earning a +4 for the week.
