In response to a request from the Refereeing Department, the KHL Disciplinary Committee has investigated a possible case of serious foul play during Tuesday’s game in Moscow between CSKA and Vityaz.

The incident occurred midway through the third period and passed unnoticed by the officials. Having studied the evidence, however, the Committee found Vityaz defenseman Igor Golovkov guilty of slashing and has imposed on the player a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes).

As this is not the first time this season that Igor Golovkov has earned a 20-minute penalty, he incurs an automatic one-game ban for repeat offending, and is therefore disqualified from playing in Vityaz’s final regular season game against Severstal in Cherepovets tonight.
