Admiral Vladivostok 1
Slovan Bratislava 3

Slovan edged closer to confirming the final play-off spot in the Western Conference with an assured 3-1 win at Admiral.

The decisive action all came in the first 10 minutes. Admiral’s Alexei Ugarov opened the scoring in the third minute but Slovan struck back with two goals in 26 seconds. Andrej Stastny extended his hot streak to three games when he rounded off a fine team play to level the scores before Michal Miklik made it 2-1.

Miklik then completed the scoring in the third period. Slovan is now seven points clear of ninth-placed Dinamo Minsk in the West while Admiral holds on to fifth in the East, one win away from securing its play-off berth.

Medvescak keeps hopes alive

Amur Khabarovsk 3
Medvescak Zagreb 6

Medvescak kept its play-off hopes flickering with a 6-3 win at Amur, but is relying on Slovan slipping up in the final stages of the season if it is to sneak into the top eight.

After two heavy defeats in its previous games, the Zagreb club led from the front here, taking the lead after just 24 seconds thank to Patrick Bjorkstrand. Amur kept in touch in the early stages, twice tying the scores on goals from Mikhail Zheleznov and Evgeny Grachyov but Medvescak took control midway through the game. Two power play goals, scored by Stefano Giliati and Radek Smolenak, made it 4-2 to the visitor.

Midway through the third Mike Glumac added a short-handed goal, his second marker of the game, after Giliati was penalized following a fight with Daniil Stalnov. Vladislav Ushenin and Edwin Hedberg traded late scores.
