The KHL Disciplinary Committee has investigated two episodes from Sunday’s game in Vladivostok between Admiral and Dynamo Moscow, and as a result, two players are facing an enforced absence from the ice during the closing stages of the regular season.
In the 13th minute, Moscow forward Andrei Alexeyev picked up a minor penalty (2 minutes) for tripping, but after reviewing the incident, the Committee ruled that the foul was one of illegal use of the knee.
The minor penalty has therefore been replaced with a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes), and Andrei Alexeyev must also serve a one-game suspension.
A little over five minutes later, Vladivostok defenseman Jonathon Blum received a major plus game misconduct checking to the head and neck area.
The Committee supported the referee’s decision and ruled that this foul also merits a one-game suspension. As this is the player’s second 20-minute penalty of the current season, he incurs an automatic one-game ban for repeat offending. Jonathon Blum is therefore banned for two games in total.
