The KHL Disciplinary Committee has reviewed two episodes from recent games.
In the 24th minute of Saturday’s game in Khanty-Mansiysk between Ugra and Avtomobilist, visiting defenseman Yegor Zhuravlyov was handed a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for tripping.
After reviewing the available evidence, the KHL Disciplinary Committee decided the offense was one of illegal use of the knee. As a result, the Committee ruled that the major plus game misconduct penalty shall remain in place but Zhuravlyov must also serve a two-game suspension.
Following a request from the Refereeing Department, the Committee also investigated a collision involving Severstal defenseman Anton Sizov and SKA forward Pavel Buchnevich during Friday’s game in Saint Petersburg.
The incident passed unnoticed by the officials. However, after studying the episode, the Committee found the Cherepovets player guilty of checking to the head or neck area. Sizov receives a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) and a one-game suspension.
