To mark the end of the seventeenth week’s play of the eighth season of the Championship, the Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.

– Best goaltender, for the second time this season, was Barry Brust (Slovan), who helped his team claim two wins in two games on the road. Brust ended the week with one shutout, a save percentage of 98.28 and a goals against average of 0.46;

– Best defenseman was Mike Lundin (Barys), with 3 points (2+1) from two victorious games. Lundin received a plus rating in both outings, meriting a +2 for the week, and he struck the game-winner in the seven-goal thriller against CSKA;

– Best forward, also for the second time in the current campaign, was Sergei Shmelyov (Spartak), who needed just one appearance – the win over Vityaz – to recorded 3 points (2+1), including the game-winning goal, and a +2;

– Best rookie, and another two-time winner this season, was 21-year-old Avangard forward Ilya Mikheyev, who was also limited to one game during the week – the Omsk men’s victory over Severstal. Mikheyev nonetheless took full advantage, and his account after 7 minutes 57 seconds of ice time showed 2 points (1+1) and a +2.
