The KHL Disciplinary Committee has investigated an incident from Tuesday’s game in Kazan between Ak Bars and SKA Saint Petersburg. In the 13th minute, visiting defenseman Yegor Yakovlev was sent off for the remainder of the game for slashing after appearing to strike home forward Justin Azevedo from behind. After reviewing the episode, the Committee upheld the referee’s decision to punish the foul with a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes), and has suspended Yakovlev for one game.
