The KHL Disciplinary Committee has reviewed two episodes from Monday’s game in Saint Petersburg between SKA and HC Sochi.

In the 26th minute, home defenseman Maxim Chudinov was sent off for the remainder of the game after an illegal hit on visiting forward Igor Ignatushkin. The Disciplinary Committee supported the referee’s decision to award a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for checking to the head and neck area. Owing to the serious nature of the foul, the Committee has suspended Chudinov for two games.

In the final minute of the second period, Sochi forward Denis Kazionov followed Chudinov into the locker room after receiving a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for boarding in a challenge on Petersburg defenseman Dmitry Yudin. The Committee upheld the referee’s decision, but did not deem the foul serious enough to merit any additional disciplinary measures. However, as this was Kazionov’s second game misconduct of the season, he earns an automatic one-game suspension.
