To mark the end of the fifth week’s play of the eighth season of the Championship, the Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories. 

Best goaltender, for the second week running, was Alexei Murygin (Lokomotiv), who kept his goal intact in both games. Alexei now has four successive clean sheets under his belt and has not allowed a goal for 266 minutes and 10 seconds – the longest shutout series in KHL history; 

Best defenseman was Jesper B. Jensen (Jokerit), who earned a positive or neutral plus/minus in all three outings, finishing the week with 1 point (1+0) and a +3; 

Best forward was Anton Burdasov (SKA), with 7 points (4+3) from three appearances and a +4 for the week. Anton beat the opposition goalies in all three games and recorded a double against Jokerit; 

Best rookie was 18-year-old Lada forward Denis Guryanov, who played in three games and ended the week with 2 points (1+1), a +1 and an average ice time of 11 minutes 5 seconds.
