To mark the end of the second week’s play of the eighth season of the Championship, The Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories. 

Best goaltender was Stanislav Galimov (CSKA), with two shutout wins in two games; 

Best defenseman was Alexei Vasilevsky (Avtomobilist), who scored at least one point and achieved a positive plus/minus in all three outings, ending the week with 5 points (2+3) and a +5; 

Best forward was Maxim Kazakov (Metallurg Novokuznetsk), who matched Vasilevsky’s haul of 5 points (3+2) from three appearances and earned a +3 for the week. Maxim took points from every game and scored twice against Medvescak; 

Best rookie was 20-year-old Metallurg Novokuznetsk goalie Andrei Kareyev, who helped his team to victory in two out of three games and recorded a save percentage of .9369. Kareyev can even claim a de facto unbeaten week, as he was replaced by Filip Novotny for the shootout in the 4-3 loss to Medvescak.
