To mark the end of the first week’s play of the eighth season of the Championship, The Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.
– Best goaltender
of the week was Vitaly Kolesnik
(Lokomotiv), who played in three games and recorded two shutouts, a goals against average of 0.97 and a save percentage of 95.89. Vitaly has now kept his goal intact for 107 minutes 7 seconds – currently the longest shutout streak in the League;
– Best defenseman
was Mat Robinson
(Dynamo Moscow), with 4 points (2+2) in three outings and an efficiency rating for the week of +8;
– Best forward
was David Ullstrom
(Sibir), who scored a goal in each of his three games, finishing the week with 5 points (3+2) and a rating of +3;
– Best rookie
was Torpedo’s 20-year-old forward, Daniil Ilyin
, whose account after two appearances shows 1 point (1+0), a rating of +1 and an average ice time of 6 minutes 48 seconds. Daniil’s goal against SKA on the 29th was his first in the KHL.
