Avangard freezes out Barys

Barys continued its downward spiral with a 0-2 defeat at home to Avangard. 

After a scoreless first period Alexander Perezhogin broke the deadlock in the 27th minute with a well-struck wrist shot into the top corner. Then Perezhogin led a counter-attack with five minutes left and Vladimir Sobotka scored off Chad Kolarik’s pass to make it 2-0 and secure the win. 

Konstantin Barulin made 28 saves for Avangard to record his fourth shut-out of the season; Barys saw its losing streak extend to eight games.
