Pavel Datsyuk was back in Sochi on Friday as part of a delegation of famous players and coaches who accompanied Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko to the Olympic city. The occasion was the official opening of a new academy, the All-Russia Children’s Sports and Fitness Center, built at the request of President Vladimir Putin.

The first brigade of the budding stars of the future, comprising 125 young hockey players, 55 figure-skaters and 20 short-track skaters, had its first glimpse of the Center last Tuesday, having made the journey from Moscow and various other regions of European Russia, with most of the aspiring hockey players being pupils at hockey schools affiliated to KHL clubs. Pavel and his fellow guests were taken on a tour of the arena and also attended the opening of a museum at the Center, after which they gave a photo session for the delighted young athletes.
