Riha leaves Avangard

Avangard has announced the departure of head coach Milos Riha following the Omsk club’s failure to qualify for the Gagarin Cup playoffs.

“When we hired Milos, it was agreed that qualification for the playoffs would be one of the minimum requirements for staying in charge of the team, and it is for this reason that we decided to part company,” said Avangard hockey operations director Viktor Shalayev.

Yevgeny Kornoukhov, one of Riha’s assistants at Avangard, has been named as acting head coach.
