Smooth progress for SKA

29 November 2013, 22:17

SKA eased to a comfortable 4-1 win over Atlant thanks to a flurry of goals late in the first period. Alexei Semenov opened the scoring on 17 minutes, scoring his team’s 1,000 goal in KHL competition after Sergei Borisov fumbled his shot from the blue line into the net.

It didn’t take long to start on the second millennium – just 54 seconds had passed when Evgeny Ketov’s quick reactions doubled SKA’s lead, and just before the hooter Maxim Chudinov scored from a tight angle to put the game beyond Atlant’s reach.

Ilya Kovalchuk added a fourth goal on the powerplay in the second session. Roman Rukavishnikov got a late consolation goal for the visitor, but SKA underlined its position at the top of the table.
