led the way for Severstal in a comfortable win at home to Atlant. He scored twice, including a first-period penalty shot, to help his team to a 3-0 lead before the second interval, and the visitor was unable to recover and claim a repeat of its shoot-out win earlier this season.
However, the game was marred by an unsavory incident midway through the second period when Severstal’s Pakhrudin Gimbatov
caught Ilya Kablukov
in the face with a raised stick. As tempers frayed, Gimbatov was expelled from the game, while Atlant’s Mikhail Glukhov picked up a minor for roughing.
The disruption didn’t affect the final outcome though: Buchnevich completed his good day by getting an assist as Evgeny Kovyrshin
made it 4-0. The win sees Severstal leap-frog Atlant into 11th place, still seven points shy of a play-off spot.
