A late goal from Evgeny Ketov
took SKA to a 2-1 home win over the forward’s former club Severstal. He combined with Vadim Shipachyov
, another ex-Severstal man, to grab the winner in the 57th minute even as his team played short-handed following a botched attempt to change lines on the fly.
It was a dramatic finish to a game which was slow to catch fire. SKA finally broke the deadlock shortly after halfway thanks to Roman Cervenka
, but Severstal fought doggedly and looked to have forced overtime when Anatoly Nikontsev
tied it up on 54:05. But it took barely two minutes for Severstal’s old-boys to snatch the win which sends SKA back to the top of the table.
