Old boys’ club sinks Severstal

20 November 2013, 22:16
A late goal from Evgeny Ketov took SKA to a 2-1 home win over the forward’s former club Severstal. He combined with Vadim Shipachyov, another ex-Severstal man, to grab the winner in the 57th minute even as his team played short-handed following a botched attempt to change lines on the fly.

It was a dramatic finish to a game which was slow to catch fire. SKA finally broke the deadlock shortly after halfway thanks to Roman Cervenka, but Severstal fought doggedly and looked to have forced overtime when Anatoly Nikontsev tied it up on 54:05. But it took barely two minutes for Severstal’s old-boys to snatch the win which sends SKA back to the top of the table.
