The KHL Disciplinary Committee has reviewed two incidents from the previous weekend’s games. In the 49th minute of Sunday’s game in Ufa between Salavat Yulaev and Traktor Chelyabinsk, Ufa defenseman Andrei Zubarev was challenged for possession by opposing forward Andrei Popov and struck the Chelyabinsk player in the face. The Committee found Zubarev guilty of injuring an opponent by checking to the head and neck area. The player receives a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) and is also disqualified for one game.

In the 30th minute of Saturday’s game in Minsk between Dinamo and Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg, the referee imposed a minor plus misconduct penalty (2+10 minutes) on Minsk forward Dmitry Meleshko for checking to the head and neck area. After studying the episode, the Committee upgraded the foul to one of injuring an opponent by checking to the head and neck area, and therefore Meleshko also receives a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) and a one-game ban.
