Seleznyov, Romanovsky banned for 2 games

4 February 2013, 23:22

In the 59th minute of Friday’s game between Moscow rivals CSKA and Spartak, visiting forward Alexander Romanovsky launched a shoulder charge into the face of opposing defenseman Yakov Rylov, injuring the CSKA man in the process.

The KHL Disciplinary Committee has upheld the referee’s decision to punish the foul with a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for causing injury by checking to the head or neck area, and has banned Romanovsky for two games.

Also on Friday, just as the hooter sounded to signal the end of the game in Bratislava between Slovan and Vityaz, visiting defender Yakov Seleznyov was sent off for an illegal hit to the head of Slovan forward Libor Hudacek.

The Committee supports the referee’s decision to impose a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for causing injury by checking to the head or neck area, and Yakov Seleznyov also receives a two-game ban.
