The time has come to embark on our epic car journey, an adventure we have christened the Milky Way, and with complete justification. How better to describe a road trip of 1,088 miles, which will take us to the greatest constellation of hockey stars in the Universe?
As you know, the All-Star weekend takes place in Chelyabinsk on the 12th and 13th of January, and in the early hours of Sunday, January the 6th, two Chevrolet Tahoes set off from the KHL headquarters on Moscow’s Ovchinnikovskaya Embankment to head for the East.
We have already shown you one of the cars after its exterior had received its unique design, one which would make it stand out on any road, and now it is time to present its sister vehicle adorned in brilliant white.
The twin Chevrolets will soon be joining the fans at the Arena Traktor, but residents of three cities on the way from Moscow to Chelyabinsk have a chance to take part in a unique event.
Milky Way itinerary:
6 January – Nizhny Novgorod;
7-8 January – Kazan;
9-10 January – Ufa.
And we can be confident that we will stay on course, as another of the KHL sponsors, MegaFon, has kindly equipped us with telephones, satellite navigation, a 4G modem and everything necessary to keep in contact and fix our exact location.
And so begins our photo competition. Residents of any of the three cities above can win prizes if they spot either one of our Chevrolet Tahoes on the road, take a photograph of the car using any suitable device, and then present us with your picture. The venue for submitting photographs and receiving prizes will be the parking lot of the local KHL club’s arena, and you should be there one hour before the start of that day’s match in the KHL Championship.
In Nizhny Novgorod, however, we will be running to a very tight schedule, arriving in the city just a short time before the Torpedo vs. Severstal game, which starts at 17:00. We will therefore remain in the parking lot of the Nagorny Concert and Entertainment Complex from 16:00 to 16:45 to hand out prizes to those who bring their photographs.
Note: please remember that your photograph must have been taken in the city, but NOT at the stadium complex. Otherwise, we would be flooded with several thousand contestants, and not even a car as large and spacious as the Chevrolet Tahoe would have room for so many prizes.
We will stay in touch, and we hope to meet you as we journey across the vast expanse of Russia.
