Extra time

The KHL Disciplinary Committee has reviewed two episodes from the 5th of February game in Khanty-Mansiysk between Yugra and Atlant.

In the 17th minute a penalty shot was awarded against Yugra after the hosts’ defenseman Tomas Starosta used his stick to inflict a blow to Atlant forward Nikolai Zherdev’s groin. The Committee has decided to impose a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) on Starosta for use of the stick with intent to injure an opponent.

The second incident came in the 20th minute, when Yugra defender Alexei Pepelyayev received a minor penalty for dirty play. Having studied this episode, the Committee decided to increase the punishment to a minor plus misconduct penalty (2+10 minutes) for an attack to the head or neck area.
