In the 45th minute of Monday’s game between SKA and Metallurg Novokuznetsk, Petersburg forward Maxim Rybin was injured by a blow to the head from Novokuznetsk defenseman Alexei Grishin.

The KHL Sporting and Disciplinary Committee has studied the incident and upholds the referee’s decision to hand Grishin a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for causing injury by checking to the head and neck area. Foul play of this nature is subject to additional disciplinary sanctions, and the Committee has therefore banned Alexei Grishin for one game.
