To mark the end of the third week’s play of the championship, The Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.
– Best goaltender of the week was Konstantin Barulin (Ak Bars), who in three games saved 96.9% of shots and allowed an average of 0.97 goals. All three games were victories for the Kazan men and included one shutout by Barulin.
– Best defenseman was Evgeny Medvedev (Ak Bars), who took 3 points (1+2) from three outings and merited an efficiency rating for the week of +4;
– Best attacker was Jori Lehtera (Sibir), who also played in three games during the week, scoring two goals and providing the passes for five more.
– Best rookie was forward Tomas Mikus (Slovan), who appeared in two games, scored 2 points (1+1) and finished the week with a +2.
The best rookie award is open to those players, goaltender or skater, born in 1990 or later, who have played no more than 20 games in previous Russian championships. The player must also have appeared in no fewer than half of his team’s games during the relevant playing week.
