The KHL Disciplinary Committee has examined three controversial episodes from the games played on Friday, the 24th of February.
In the 57th minute of the Dinamo Riga vs. Metallurg Novokuznetsk game, Novokuznetsk forward Chris Simon was handed a minor, major and game misconduct penalty (2+5+20 minutes) for being the instigator of a brawl in the last five minutes of a game. The Disciplinary Committee reviewed the episode and decided to uphold the original punishment.
In the 60th minute of the game between Traktor and Spartak, the hosts’ forward Evgeny Kuznetsov was injured by a hit from Spartak defenseman Andre Benoit. Having scrutinized this incident, the Committee imposed on Benoit a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for causing injury in a challenge on a player not in possession of the puck.
In the 14th minute of the SKA vs. Amur game, Petersburg forward Ivan Nepryayev was given two minutes in the penalty box for boarding. After studying the challenge, the Committee increased the punishment to a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for boarding, resulting in injury to an opponent.
