Heroes rewarded

On the 21st of January 2012 the city of Riga played host to the fourth Kontinental Hockey League All-Star Game, in which Sergei Fedorov’s team, starring the best players in the Eastern Conference, enjoyed a 15-11 victory over a team made up of the finest masters from the Western Conference, captained by Sandis Ozolins.

Following the All-Star Game the Kontinental Hockey League’s partners awarded individual prizes in three categories to players of both teams.

General partner and insurance provider for the KHL Championship and KHL All-Star Game, SOGAZ Insurance Group, presents the Most Reliable Defenseman award at each KHL All-Star Game and at the closing ceremony of each season, to recognize and reward the players it considers to be the most solid defenders for their team. In the KHL All-Star Game 2012 the most reliable defensemen were Dmitry Kalinin (Team Ozolins) and Ilya Nikulin (Team Fedorov), and they each receive a certificate of an insurance policy for foreign travel, providing cover worth up to €300,000.

General sponsor of the KHL Championship and KHL All-Star Game MegaFon’s traditional award is entitled “The Future Depends on You” and rewards the All-Star Game’s youngest participants. The prize is a tablet computer and whole year’s unlimited Internet access, plus a handy sports bag. This year’s winners from Team Ozolins are 21-year-old defenseman Maxim Chudinov and 23-year-old forward Mikhail Anisin, plus Evgeny Kuznetsov (19) and Vladimir Tarasenko (20) from Team Fedorov.

BALTIC MILES awarded a prize to the Most Valuable Player of each team of stars. For the KHL All-Star Game 2012 the MVP award goes to the two captains, Sandis Ozolins and Sergei Fedorov, and each is rewarded with a week’s holiday for them and their families in a five-star hotel, with a rented car at their disposal and a choice of Turkey, Greece or Egypt as their destination.
