Torpedo’s birthday

Today is exactly 65th years since the founding of one of the most popular clubs in the country - Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. The Torpedo hockey club, which traces its roots back to the Gorky automobile plant, is rightly considered to be the pride of the nation’s hockey and an essential part of its glorious history. The Nizhny Novgorod academy produced many of the country’s star players, including Olympic, world and European champions such as Viktor Konovalenko, Vladimir Kovin, Mikhail Varnakov, Alexander Skvortsov, Yury Fyodorov, Andrei Kovalenko and other illustrious masters.

The Kontinental Hockey League congratulates Torpedo and its legions of supporters on reaching its 65th anniversary and wishes the club success, prosperity and many more victories in the future.
