Leader beaten at home

Grigory Shafigulin gave Dynamo Moscow a 4-3 victory at Western Conference leaders SKA St. Petersburg - and blew the race at the top of the section wide open once more. Shafigulin scored twice - opening the scoring on 8:39 and getting the decisive 4-3 goal on 56:28 - to put his team within 3 points of SKA and take his personal tally to five goals for the season. Shafigulin also claimed an assist as Artyom Chernov put Dynamo 2-0 up in the first period, but Tony Martensson and a Maxim Rybin penalty shot tied the game before Vyacheslav Kozlov re-instated Dynamo's advantage on 35:13.

Traktor stays on top
Evgeny Kuznetsov (1+2) and Alexander Ryazantsev (1+1) were the stars as Traktor Chelyabinsk stayed on top of the KHL with a 4-2 home win over Dinamo Minsk. The hosts didn’t have it easy, though, as Zbynek Irgl and Geoff Platt twice put the Belarusians ahead. But it was a strong show in the final period that won the game: Kuznetsov and Ryazantsev combined to set up Petri Kontiola for the game-winning goal and with barely a minute to play Ryazantsev completed the scoring and sealed the points.
