Games between Dynamo Moscow and Ak Bars Kazan are typically hard-fought affairs, and tonight's KHL clash was no exception. Both sides were determined to make the other work hard for every opportunity: in the first period the hosts were limited to just five shots on goal, while in the second period Ak Bars managed a paltry two. And it was in that second session that Dynamo finally broke the deadlock with a shorthanded goal from Sergei Soin while Denis Tolpeko was sitting out a penalty. Ilya Gorokhov extended the advantage on 38:54, and Soin produced an assist as Sergei Konkov made it 3-0 on 48:42. Alexander Yeryomenko made 26 saves to secure the clean sheet.
Ruslan Zainullin scored for the second game running, and Alexei Ugarov hit two as Torpedo overpowered Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk in Nizhny Novgorod. At the other end goaltender Pekka Tuokkola made 30 saves in a 5-0 win.
