The KHL Disciplinary Committee held a meeting on the 10th of October to examine a series of incidents which occurred in the KHL Championship game between Vityaz and Dinamo Riga. During the game a number of confrontations took place on the playing area which resulted in the participants receiving major penalties and game misconduct penalties.
In the 42nd minute, Vityaz forward Kip Brennan launched an attack on Riga defender Krisjanis Redlihs, for which he received a minor plus major plus misconduct penalty (2+5+10 minutes). The Committee, having viewed the relevant material connected with the episode, decided to replace Brennan’s punishment with a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes). In accordance with KHL Regulations, the Committee imposed an additional suspension of 3 games.
In the 58th minute, a mass brawl broke out which involving players of both teams. The Disciplinary Committee studied the incident and made a number of decisions regarding those who participated in the brawl:
– With regard to Vityaz forward Jeremy Yablonski, the Committee decided to uphold his original major penalty plus game misconduct (5+20 minutes). The Committee imposed an additional disqualification of 3 games. Taking into account his previous disciplinary record, the Committee extended his ban by two more games. The length of the suspension imposed on Jeremy Yablonski is therefore 5 games.
– With regard to Vityaz forward Nick Tarnasky, the Committee again decided to uphold the original major penalty plus game misconduct (5+20 minutes) and to impose an additional suspension of 3 games.
– With regard to Dinamo Riga defenseman Sandis Ozolins, the Committee imposes a game misconduct penalty (20 minutes).
– With regard to Vityaz forward Evgeny Timkin, the Committee imposes a major penalty plus game misconduct (5+20 minutes), and an additional suspension of 2 games.
In the 60th minute, Vityaz forward Kip Brennan launched an attack on Dinamo Riga forward Janis Sprukts and received a minor, major and game misconduct penalty (2+5+20 minutes). The additional disqualification imposed on Kip Brennan for this violation is three games. Taking into account the previous punishments incurred by the player, the suspension is increased by two games. The Vityaz forward is therefore disqualified for the next 8 games.
