The KHL Disciplinary Committee has reviewed an episode which took place in the 54th minute of the Dynamo Moscow vs. SKA Saint Petersburg game on the 5th of October, concerning an illegal challenge by SKA forward Fyodor Fyodorov. The player had been handed a minor plus a misconduct penalty (2+10 minutes), according to rule 536 а) for “violation of the laws by use of the knee in a challenge on an opponent,” but as a result of its review the Disciplinary Committee decided instead to impose a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for “violation of the laws by use of the knee with intent to cause injury in a challenge on an opponent,” according to rule 536 b) of the KHL laws of the game. In line with article 1.7 of the KHL Regulations regarding additional sanctions and disqualifications, Fyodor Fyodorov will also be disqualified for one game.
