The chairman of the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works board of directors and Metallurg club president Viktor Rashnikov expressed his condolences to the nearest and dearest of the victims. A memorial was set up near the Metallurg arena for those who wish to pay their respects.
At the entrance to the Arena-Omsk fans of Avangard and also of Sibir, who had made the trip to Omsk for their first game of the regular season, paid tribute to those killed in the air crash. Flowers were laid alongside photographs of Lokomotiv and goaltender Alexander Vyukhin, who played for both teams earlier in his career.
A special area was set aside at the Platinum Arena for those wishing to pay respects to the dead.
A wreath from the Kazan club was laid at the Arena-2000 in Yaroslavl.
The club has transferred ten million rubles to a special account set up to help the relatives of the crash victims.
The Mytishchi club has will send two buses to Yaroslavl for the funerals. The players and staff will travel in one, while the other will carry supporters and representatives of other KHL teams.
The Ufa men decided to make a donation, and transferred two million rubles to Lokomotiv’s account.
A memorial event has been organized by the Kazakhstan Arena.
In Riga a procession was held in memory of Karlis Skrastins, the Riga-born player who died in Wednesday’s disaster, and a memorial to all the victims was organized by the club’s arena.
On the day when the game with Lokomotiv should have been played, the arena hosted a requiem evening. Attending were all the supporters who had bought tickets for the game. All of the takings will go to Lokomotiv. More than 10,000 people attended the ceremony, and among those taking part were president Alexander Lukashenko and all the Dinamo Minsk players. The Ice Hockey Federation of Belarusian has set up an account for donations.
Governor of Kemerovo Region Aman Tuleyev expressed his condolences with regard to the tragedy, and supporters in the city gathered around a plinth on which stands a locomotive.
In Saint Petersburg there was a memorial held for the victims, and one of the first tributes to the dead was donated by the management, coaches and players of hockey teams SKA, HC VMF and SKA-1946.
Chelyabinsk’s hockey fans gathered at the Traktor arena to pay their respects to the deceased. By the ticket office entrance a Lokomotiv flag was raised, where throughout the day the people of Chelyabinsk arrived to lay flowers.
During the day the Yugra playing and coaching staff attended the Church of the Resurrection of Christ. The players lit candles for the repose of the souls of those killed, and the senior priest read a prayer for the prematurely departed players, coaches and employees of Lokomotiv.
The players, coaches and employees of Severstal laid flowers on a memorial table set up next to the ice palace in honor of those who died in the disaster.
And condolences were expressed on the official websites of Neftekhimik, Sibir, Spartak, Torpedo, CSKA and Lev.
