A ballot was conducted by the board of directors of the Kontinental Hockey League on May 17th at 18:00 Moscow time.
As a result of the ballot, Vyacheslav Fetisov was re-elected as chairman of the KHL board of directors, and the format of the KHL Championship for season 2010/2011 was confirmed.
Based on the strength of the applications submitted by the clubs, the board of directors voted to include Yugra of Khanty-Mansiysk and Budivelnik of Kiev as participating clubs in the Kontinental Hockey League – Russian Open Hockey Championship season 2010/2011.
As a consequence of the clubs’ failure to supply the KHL in the prescribed period with the necessary documentation guaranteeing adequate financing of their teams, the board of directors voted to exclude from participation in the KHL Championship the following clubs: Lada of Togliatti, Dynamo of Moscow and HC MVD of Moscow region.
Due to Avtomobilist of Yekaterinburg supplying the KHL with documentation guaranteeing adequate financing of the team, but said documentation failing to meet the stipulated requirements of the KHL, the board of directors decided to issue a warning of possible exclusion from participation in the KHL Championship, season 2010/2011, in the event of failure to furnish the KHL with the necessary documentation by May 25, 2010.
